Buchanan County has been granted the right to expand its right of way (ROW) on County Road 939 (220th St.) from Independence to Winthrop, a roughly 7.5 mile stretch. As a result, ECI REC must relocate its distribution equipment (lines, poles, and transformers).
Seven Highline Construction crews will be moving about 3 miles worth of ECI REC equipment, and 75 poles will be replaced or reset. The four-week project will involve 15 two-man crews.
The ROW is a strip of land the county has been granted the use of for transportation purposes—in this case the road.
Highline’s work on the ROW project caused a temporary break in their work on the FEMA project to strengthen 246 miles of overhead distribution power lines. Retired and rebuild projects completed in Buchanan County to date total 29.65 miles, for an estimated investment of $569,203. Highline crews should be back to work on the FEMA project soon.
