Through the support of members like you, ECI REC’s RECare program distributes funds via community action agencies to low income consumers within Benton and Buchanan County communities. These funds are used to help pay for heating bills or the cost of winterizing the home of members of the Cooperative that need assistance. In 2012, 107 members donated $5,678 to RECare.
“Some people donate once a year, others have the Cooperative add a few dollars to their electric bills each month,” said Teresa Floyd, Manager of Finance and Consumer Service. “No matter how often or the size of the donation, it makes a difference! The economy is improving very slowly. There are still many people who are having trouble making ends meet. I am proud that our members are digging into their pocket to help others.”
Donations received from our northern district are given to Buchanan County Relief. Donations from our southern district are given to Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) to help people in Benton County. The funds are distributed in July. Last year, Buchanan County Relief received $2,518 and HACAP received $2,877.
