Contributing to RECare, a program that distributes funds via community action agencies to low-income energy consumers within the Benton and Buchanan County communities, is one easy way to help others. The funds donated by ECI REC members help pay heating bills or weatherization costs for their less fortunate fellow members.
“We would like to thank members who are giving to others in our communities,” said ECI REC Manager of Finance and Consumer Services Teresa Floyd. “From July 2013 to June 2014, 98 members contributed $6,842, which was an increase of $398. Those donations assisted 41 members in need, with an average assistance of $95.19 going to each family.
“ECI REC realizes economic times are tough, but even a small amount can help those less fortunate. In 2013-2014, we had 98 members contribute (83 monthly, 15 one-time donations), and we’d love to set a goal for 2014-2015 of exceeding that number of participants.” To sign up for RECare or make a one-time donation, visit our RECare web page.
