You can make the right decision with help from ECI REC
You’ve had your clothes washer forever, but for the most part it’s in pretty good shape and gets your clothes clean. Why worry about budgeting for an upgrade?
For starters, inefficient appliances can have a huge impact on your home’s monthly electric bill. For example, installing a new, energy-efficient clothes washer can yield around a 24% return on investment.
At www.TogetherWeSave.com, ECI REC’s partner, Touchstone Energy® Cooperative, demonstrates how small changes like replacing an appliance or unplugging electronics lead to big energy savings. On the website under Energy Savings Home Tour, you can walk through a typical home’s kitchen, living room, and other common areas. Upgrade appliances and make other energy-smart choices in each room. Each time you make a change, you’re shown how much money you could save on your annual electric bill.
In addition to energy savings over the life of the appliance, you can save with East-Central Iowa REC’s appliance rebate and lighting rebate programs. Lighting, for instance, accounts for 20% of the average home’s electric bill, and it is one of the easiest and most effective places to start saving. Just one compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) can save an average of $40 or more in electricity costs over its lifetime, and ECI REC offers discounts on qualified CFL purchases through the Iowa Be Bright program. You can learn more about this program, and find a complete list of appliance and lighting rebates, here. In addition to the in-home appliance listings, agricultural and commercial appliance incentives are also available. Contact ECI REC at 319-443-4343 or find rebate forms here.
