Apprentice Lineworker
East-Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative (ECI REC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Apprentice Lineworker to be located at our Operations Center in Independence, Iowa. ECI REC is a member-owned electric distribution cooperative currently serving over 7,000 members throughout 11 counties in the East Central Iowa region.
About This Position:
As an Apprentice Lineworker, you are responsible for managing a variety of tasks in order to distribute electricity to our members. A few of the key tasks include constructing, replacing, and maintaining electric distribution lines, structures, and equipment. This role would participate in the Iowa Association of Electric Cooperative’s apprenticeship program.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
For this position, you must be a graduate of a Power Lineman Technical Course and have the working knowledge of basic electricity, including National Electric Safety Code and rural electric operating methods and procedures. You must also possess a Class A CDL with airbrake endorsement or have the ability to obtain this within the first 90 days of employment. Experience in the electric utility or similar industry is a plus.
Perks:
The hours for this position will be Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm. This position will be on a rotating on-call schedule and will be required to work overtime depending on the needs of the business. ECI REC also offers its employees a comprehensive benefits package which includes:
