ECI REC Announces Scott McLaughlin as Next CEO

The East-Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative Board of Directors is pleased to announce Scott A.J. McLaughlin as ECI REC's next Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2027.

Scott has been part of the ECI REC team since 2013, serving as an Engineering Technician. In that role, he has worked closely with employees across the cooperative on system planning, construction projects, outage restoration, contractor management, capital budgeting, and operational technology.

Before joining ECI REC, Scott spent eight years with Power System Engineering, Inc., where he consulted for more than 30 electric utilities across several Midwestern states. His experience included overseeing multimillion-dollar FEMA repair and mitigation projects in Iowa.

Scott earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Studies from Iowa State University and a diploma from the Powerline Program at Minnesota West Community and Technical College. He also completed NRECA's Management Internship Program in 2023.

In addition to his work at the cooperative, Scott is active in the Vinton community, serving and volunteering with several local boards and organizations. Scott and his wife, Emily, live in rural Vinton with their three children, Jackson, Nolan, and Madison.

The Board is pleased to promote a knowledgeable and experienced leader from within ECI REC. Scott brings a strong understanding of our employees, members, operations, and strategic direction, along with a longstanding commitment to the cooperative and the communities we serve.
